As some of you may know the American Educational Research Association (AERA) recently held its 2012 Annual meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia from April 13 – 17th. The theme of this year’s meeting was Non Satis Scire – To Know Is Not Enough.
Over 15,000 people attended this event including a cadre of AERO members some who also served as panellists or presenters at the meeting. Chris Conley an AERO Past President also helped to keep folks updated on the AERA proceedings via Twitter. An AERA meeting program mobile app was also available this year which provided comprehensive information on the meeting including session and presentation titles, exhibitors and more. A very special note of acknowledgement and congratulations goes to two of our AERO members, namely Dr. Paul Favaro and Ms. Elana Gray of the Peel District School Board whose publication entitled ‘Evaluation of the Math GAINS Co-Teaching Initiative in Peel’ was the first place winner for the Award for Outstanding Publications Competition Summary Reports/NCLB Information Materials. AERA’s Division H: Research, Evaluation and Assessment in Schools grants this award. Both Paul and Elana attended the AERA Division H Business Meeting to receive their award. Paul and Elana won this same award albeit for a different report in 2010. Congratulations again to Paul and Elana!
