The AERO-AOCE Spring 2019 Special Interest Group (SIG) on Equity and Identity Based Data Collection
The Association of Educational Researchers of Ontario (AERO-AOCE), in partnership with the Toronto Region Managing Information for Student Achievement (MISA) Professional Network Centre (PNC), and Data User Group (DUG), invited members and guests to attend a Special Interest Group (SIG) on Equity and Identity-Based Data Collection.
With support and direction from the Ontario Anti-Racism Directorate (first established in February, 2016), Ontario School Boards have been mandated to collect identity-based data from students by 2023 and have been encouraged to collect identity-based data from staff.
Members and guests joined us for a day of learning, including a keynote by Dr. David Weinkauf, from the Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC) of Ontario and opportunities to discuss the following:
1. Census Implementation
2. Questionnaire Items and Design
3. Coding and Categorization
4. Analysis and Reporting
The SIG was held at Monsignor Fraser College School, 45 Norfinch Drive, North York on Friday May 10th, 2019 from 9am to 3pm.
