WORKING TOGETHER – COLLABORATING IN EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH

On Friday, June 1st AERO members got together for the annual AERO Spring Conference. This year’s theme was Working Together – Collaborating in Educational Research. In the morning, attendees had the option of hearing a variety of recent collaborative projects dealing with Student Success, Early Years, and Bridging Gaps. Presenters were from various organizations across Ontario and included the Ministry of Education, EQAO, OISE/UT, City of Hamilton, and Toronto DSB. |

Keynote speaker Don Buchanan - E-BEST, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board

In the afternoon, Don Buchanan, Knowledge Mobilization Officer on the E-Best Team at the Hamilton Wentworth DSB, discussed Building Conditions for Collaboration. His keynote address discussed futures thinking and prospects for the work of education research. Following the keynote, attendees had the opportunity to move between smaller table groups to ask questions, discuss relevant issues, and learn more from morning presenters. As the conference was centered around the theme of collaboration, the small table groups allowed attendees to delve deeper into topics, network, and share their own projects and ideas. |

To end the day, Terry Spencer (2011-12 AERO President) presented the Past President Award to Lynn Kostuch (2010-11 AERO President). Her expertise will be truly missed on the AERO Executive. Following the Past Presidents award, Terry also introduced the incoming 2012-13 Executive and welcomed Cheryl Backlund as the new 2012-13 AERO President.
